Why do we use Threema messenger and why do we encourage Clients to use it too?

What’s Threema Messenger?

You almost certainly use SMS or text messages every day. Many people also use other messengers such as Whatsapp or Signal. Threema is a messaging app with some important differences that make it useful to us and you.

The simplest way to describe Threema Messenger is that it’s a messenger that can send text, files, videos and images. In addition it can provide 1:1 or group voice and video calling. It’s also end to end encrypted meaning that only the people involved in the conversation or call can read the contents of messages. We think that’s important to ensure the privacy of our customer’s data.

Why do we use Threema Messenger?

Like most businesses we need a reliable, secure and fast way of communicating with members of the team. We use a variant of Threema Messenger that’s designed for businesses. This allows us to integrate our planning and approvals systems with Threema and to ensure that team members have accurate, up-to-date information about weather, NOTAMs and other important detail.

It also provides a way for clients and team members to communicate directly and securely.

In addition our team members’ privacy is important to us. Team members can use Threema on their personal phones without disclosing their phone number to other people. It allows team members to operate as an effective part of the business whilst maintaining their own privacy.

Why do we encourage clients to use Threema?

Using Threema Messenger is an integral part of how we do business, it’s important to our business and it’s important to your privacy. We encourage all clients to communicate with us using Threema, you will get a very rapid response from us on Threema and we can add other team members to the conversation if we need to. We also provide you with links to project files and deliverables by Threema so that you get them quickly and effectively.

Threema is an important part of how we do business. It costs around $10 for you to buy and install Threema on your device. We’ll give you a $20 discount from your first bill if you install and use Threema when working with us. We’ll do that for up to 3 people from each client organisation. Just send us your Threema ID and start communicating with us.

Useful information

• Threema is available for both Android and iOS (iPhone). “Google free” versions are also available for Android;
• Once you have Threema installed on your device you can also install it on your desktop or laptop. We recommend the beta version available here it’s available for Mac, Windows and Linux - scroll down the page for the beta versions;
• You can read all about Threema on their site;
• Installation and setup is easy using the built in setup wizard. Make sure you turn on Threema Safe and store your Threema Safe password and your Threema ID somewhere safe. Further support information is here
